Sunshine Foundation Gala- November 15, 2011

Once again the Louisiana Old Governor's Mansion was the perfect setting for the Sunshine Foundation Gala.

Several restaurants and caterers provided food for the attendees.  We saw Heirloom Cuisine, Tony's Seafood and Sweet Bliss among others. Miss Louisiana Northwest was there and she tried out our salad offerings too.

For this event Best Catered Events featured our "Walkin to New Orleans" Banana Crepes, our "No Evidence Caesar Salad", Sweet-Sweet Charlotte Salad and the Vertical Caesar.

Such a worthwhile event for a great cause! Thanks for inviting us to participate.  We'll see you in 2012!

www.LOVE! Matthew Hickey and Shannon Parent - 11-19-2011

Matthew Hickey and Shannon Parent met on the World Wide Web!

Matt said after only the first few  dates he knew Shannon was the one.  The groom said it was scary how well they fit and Shannon also tells me that she knew Matt was the one and that it seems like everything she and Matt have done, they have done backwards. They were together about a year and a half before their wedding today.  Shannon said she had picked out her wedding gown before the proposal and the groom proposed before he had a ring!

This sweet couple was surrounded by many friends and family tonight for their wedding.  The ceremny was very special and intimate, and tears flowed with happiness. They definitely moved forward today!

From Dianne Evans and the staff at Best Catered Events, we wish you two the BEST!

See you on on the World Wide Web!  You can always find us at http://www.bestcateredevents.com/

"10,000 Lights" - Auburn Wessman and Anna Peters - 11.12.2011

When Anna and Auburn came to Best Catered Events for a tasting, they were shy.  It didn't take long for them to get to know us, and our food.  Auburn loves our pecan smoked wings and Anna had her favs as well.

Today, November 12, 2011 was their wedding day at the Chapel at Lamar Dixon in Gonzales, LA.  The couple chose this special place to pledge their love one to the other and it made a lovely and quaint setting.  Vicki's Passion For Flowers provided gorgeous fresh florals for the chapel as well as the reception site.  Soft flowers in shades of ivory, white and deep purple completed the beautiful garden setting back at the couple's lovely home.

The sky overhead was strung with 10,000 tiny white lights.  It was like being under a cover of twinkling stars once the sun went down.  There were heaters and a fire pit going and plenty of eating and visiting.  This bride and groom created an absolutely breathtaking setting for their reception. They strung all 10,000 lights just for this event.

The couple chose their menu which was.
Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya
Pecan Smoked Wings
Bacon Wrapped Green Beans with a Honey Drizzle
Louisiana Crawfish Stuffed Bread
Voodoo Cheese Dip
Apache Dip in Bread Bowls
Finger Sandwiches
Fresh Fruit
Summer Punch

Auburn had also made one of his favorite drinks called, Honey Whiskey...He used 9# of fresh honey (complete with honeycomb) and 3 large bottles of Makers Mark.  He told me that he poured the bourbon over the honeycomb and let it ferment for about 3 weeks.  Then he strained it and ran it through a coffee filter.  It smelled divine and was a rich honey color.  I was on the clock so didn't partake, but those that did, told me it was great and I could tell they were enjoying it alot. There were also galvanized tubs of beer, lots of beer and cute Koozies to put around them in the purple fleur de lis pattern.
Inside Anna had created a precious candy bar with all purple choices.  It smelled like grapes and everyone was getting a little bag to enjoy on the ride home.

This was an absolute perfect site for Auburn and Anna on this most Special Day.  Everything fit, and it came together so beautifully.

Best Wishes to Our Couple with the 10,000 Lights.....that is a first....and it was an awesome day!

Oh, and Auburn, call me when you crave those wings....

Christopher Craft and Rosalyn Rice - 11.11.11

On this very special Veterans Day, Christopher Craft and Rosalyn Rice were joined in marriage.  The bride's uncle performed the very personal and sentimental ceremony at this beautiful lakeside setting at half past three in the afternoon.  The weather was picture perfect and there was an awesome reflection off the water.  Rosie walked down the burlap aisle on the arm of her father while the harpist played beautiful melodies.  After the couple exchanged vows and rings, the cocktail hour began.  After being showered with fresh Fall leaves, the couple gathered up their wedding party and families for pictures.

Meanwhile, Bonnie Baxley, Kathy Jones and Stephanie Jones passed our shrimp cones, sweet and sour meatballs on pretzel sticks, taco rolls and assorted finger sandwiches to the hungry crowd.  The guests enjoyed "Rosie's Tea Bar" along with coffee, hot peach tea and some specialty drinks of Mojitos and Spiked and non alcoholic Apple Cider provided by the bride's mom and served up by Wendy Chapman.

Stephanie Brown attended the Pasta Bar where we featured our favorite Alfredo sauce with bowtie pasta, with ham, parmesan cheese and brocolli options.  Smoked turkey breast with freshly made rolls, feta cheese torte with crackers, sweet and sour meatballs, fire grilled vegetables and fresh fruit and cheese along with finger sandwiches rounded out the menu.  A special Jambalaya was prepared for the occasion by Lionel Burrell and it was certainly enjoyed by the guests.

After pictures were taken by Kaylynn Marie Photography, the couple joined their families and friends and the reception started.  Chris and Rosalyn danced their first dance to "At Last", and there were many memorable songs and dances throughout the evening.  The wedding cake was decorated beautifully and brought up from New Orleans by Cake Designs by Meg.  The leaves were so realistic, but made of chocolate.  The cake was unique with it's pumpkin spice layer, apple spice layer and carrot cake layer.  There was Almond Buttercream frosting on the outside and Cream Cheese Buttercream on the inside....heavenly!  Everyone raved over the flavor of those cakes.

As the sun was setting, the full moon shone down on the dance floor and the white twinkle lights made it almost storybook, and definitely picture perfect.  This bride did so many little extras for this special day and the touches were noticed everywhere.  So much attention to detail and very unique.

The groom's cake was a homestyle cheesecake made for the groom by Rosalyn's aunt.  She told me that she had made it once and he loved it!

We also heard quite the buzz about the "Cadillac Restroom".  Funny thing was, the day before, the bride's Uncle Anthony  had told me that everyone would remember those first class facilities and I think he was right!  No lines either!

Late in the evening, the family members and friends joined Chris and Roslynn down by the lake once again for a huge bonfire, s'mores and hot chocolate.  A fun ending to an absolutely perfect day.

Best Catered Events wishes this fun loving and unique couple all the best.....oh, and I forgot to fill out one of the prediction cards.....but in 5 years, I predict you will remember.....Your wedding day, reception,  and all the special memories you made on 11.11.11.  Maybe, just maybe, you will take a minute to look up this caterer and give us a ring....We certainly hope to hear from you!!!

Southern Hospitality

Our "Field Of Greens" Salad

Southern Hospitality Description

We cut your salad greens fresh!

We loved seeing reactions to our "Southern Hospitality"

Yes, that is Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden with Dianne
Best Catered Events participated in the Gala at the Louisiana Old Governor's Mansion this evening in Baton Rouge, LA.

Our team served up freshly made "Southern Hospitality" featuring our griddle fried corn cakes topped with collard greens and black eyed pea caviar.

We also served up freshly cut salad greens in our black handled take out boxes.  Guests enjoyed the fresh spring greens topped with Feta, Candied Almonds, Fresh Roasted Corn, Dried Cranberries and our own light Cranberry Vinagrette.

There was certainly an abundance of  food and drink at this event, and those in attendance were offered different items throughout the evening.  Champagne was passed and there was a festive mood in the air. Even Baton Rouge's own, Mayor Kip Holden dressed for the event, as did many of the attendees.
I even saw a Pan Am Pilot and a Flight Attendant!

We visited with the General Manager of White Oak Plantation, and Caryn Roland of Heirloom Cuisine, also Bayou Bistro's Representative and the Representative from Unique Cuisine.  There were multiple other caterers represented by their food items in the main dining room.  Chef Don Bergeron offered up a Crawfish Cheesecake which was being complimented on over and over.  I also heard rave reviews all evening long about Ronda Courtland's Bread Pudding.  Although I never saw Rhonda, I did see that bread pudding being enjoyed!  There were martini bars, a drive in theatre set up, a fun photo booth, lots of antique cars, (I even saw a blue GTO), great bands (both inside and outside), Kleinpeter Dairy offered up ice cream, there were snow cones out back, Brew Ha Ha offered up sweets in the family dining room and there were both live and silent auctions taking place throughout the evening.  Cute little white demitasse cups of coffee were served later in the evening.

Allie Wester and Claire Trahan, Cammie Davis and all the others responsible for this event, should be very proud.  Caryn Roland, once again, your hard work did not go unnoticed.  It was a very nice evening and those not in attendance tonight, sure did miss a good time!

A good event for a great cause......Thanks to all who donated their time and services to make a successful event once again for our Baton Rouge.  Maybe, just maybe, next year I will win a bid in the silent auction!
